Frequently Asked Questions

Your pieces will be ready to collect 3 – 6 weeks after your workshop or classes are completed. You will be notified when your pieces are ready for collection. Space is limited for storage of your precious pieces, so we can only hold them for 1 month after pick up notification. After this time, they will be donated to charity.

All of the materials you need to complete your projects are included in the costs of all workshops and classes. You’ll never be charged additional payments for the advertised projects. Please note that most projects will have size limitations due to the firing process and kiln packing requirements. These will be explained at all workshops and classes, so you’ll never need to worry.

If you wish to create something beyond the advertised projects, just chat with your instructor and we can assist you to create the artwork you are dreaming of. Additional charges may be incurred, but you’ll always know upfront exactly what the cost will be.

Clothes you do not mind getting dirty, nothing stains, but you are guaranteed to get a bit of clay and dust on yourself! Closed in shoes are a must. You are welcome to bring snacks and a drink and pop it in our studio fridge.

What to bring/wear

If possible, please park in my driveway, additional parking is available on the road to the east of the studio near the large grassy area. Please be mindful of allowing neighbours to come and go with ease. There is an access road across from the studio to help you turn around.

At Lake House Studio we care for your pieces like they are our very own. Unfortunately, even the best ceramic artists experience breakages. Clay can be a fickle friend and from time to time all clay artists will experience a breakage. Clay can crack when drying or in firing, pieces can fall off, glazes can crawn or flake and on occasions, things can actually explode in the kiln. We will do everything possible to protect your creations (and our kiln) from all of these mishaps, but clay does have a mind of its own and we can only offer an apology if your piece decides its own story.

Kids classes, Workshops, Events

Non alcoholic drinks and snacks are welcomed at children’s classes/ workshops events.

Kids need to feel safe, and the adults can save that for our Art ‘n Sip workshops! No alcohol is offered at any children’s classes, workshops, or events.

Food and Drinks

Adult Classes, Workshops, Events

Lake House Studio is BYO only! We are an inclusive, safe environment and non-alcoholic or alcohol options are welcomed unless you are participating in a children’s session – then it’s not ok. Some workshops include at no cost a complementary glass of naughty water, but you don’t have to have it!

We definitely do not sell any alcoholic drinks as we are not licensed. If you forget to bring your favourite tipple with you, we’ll be more than happy to point you in the right direction. Carey Bay Cellars are just down the road and Mal and his team will be very happy to help you.

We are BYO, but this doesn’t mean we aren’t responsible servers of alcohol (RSA), if you’re wanting more than a couple, ensure you have transport home. There is limited public transport, however there are a couple of local Hire Car companies that have very reasonable prices, as well as UBER and good old-fashioned taxis.

So, bring the naughty water of your choice; wine, seltzers, bubbles, beer, and pre-mixed drinks and come have some fun!!

We strongly encourage you to have a little food to eat while you create, especially if you are enjoying a drink. Bring yourself some nibbles or contact us and let us do the hard work for you with many options from grazing boards, to homemade finger food, courtesy of one of our catering partners.

Lake House Studio has a full-sized fridge inside the studio to keep drinks cold. We also have glassware so no need to bring plastic cups. We have some crockery and cheese boards and utensils too. Unfortunately, we do not have access to a microwave or oven. Tea and coffee are complementary.
